Fresh violence erupted in Jammu region on Friday with angry protesters attacking two police stations in Poonch and Kathua, where army staged a flag march.
Curfew was clamped in border town of Hiranagar in Kathua district after protesters turned violent following arrest of a youth and torched a truck parked in the police station complex.
Six persons were injured as police fired tear gas shells and cane charged the protesters who forcibly released the youth from the police station.
"After fresh violence curfew was imposed in Hiranagar this afternoon. The clashes between police and protesters are going on," Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Mandeep Kour told PTI.
Army has been deployed and they have staged a flag march in the town to restore peace and normalcy, she said.
In Poonch, police fired in the air to disperse members of a community who surrounded a police station and pelted stones on it after offering Friday prayers.
They were protesting against registration of a case against some members of their community in connection with an attack on a chemist shop and assault on a person on Tuesday.
"Police resorted to cane charge and teargas shelling and later fired a few rounds in air to disperse the mob," officials said.

Rallies were taken out in Gangyal, Bishnah, Bakshinagar, Shaktinagar, Canal Road, Miran Sahib, R S Pura, Samba, Kathua Trikutanagar, Satwari and Udhampur areas as the agitation by the Sri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti continued for the 54th day on Friday.
