Punjab: jail warden sells drugs, gets 3 years in jail

A local court in Faridkot, about 125 km south of Amritsar, yesterday awarded three years imprisonment to a jail warden for selling drugs to prisoners.

A local court in Faridkot, about 125 km south of Amritsar, has awarded three years imprisonment to a jail warden for selling drugs to prisoners. The verdict was announced by the court on Friday.

Jail warden Harinder Singh was arrested by police in February 2012 for selling drugs to prisoners.

During search operations, jail authorities had recovered 600 sedatives tablets and 16 gram smack powder.

The case was registered on the complaint of jail superintendent, Faridkot.
