“I have tremendous faith in our judicial system and I respect the court’s decision,’’ he told Hindustan Times on Monday evening.

He refused to comment on whether he should be reinstated as the DGP following the court verdict. “I am a government servant doing my duty,’’ he cryptically remarked on the question.

Nonetheless, Swaraj Puri wondered aloud as to why the EOW had thought it fit to register an FIR against him in the first place.

“It was just a complaint against me and the court found it unworthy of making into a case. This is precisely what I have come to know about the court’s decision’’, he maintained.

Meanwhile, DGP Anand Rao Pawar, who was the EOW DG when the complaint against Puri was registered, insisted that he would not comment on the court’s decision.“I am not competent enough to talk about it (the decision)’’, he maintained in response to persistent queries about the case.
