Quota row: Arjun Singh meets Kalam

In the midst of a raging controversy over reservation for OBCs in elite educational institutions, HRD Minister Arjun Singh has met President APJ Abdul Kalam and discussed related issues.

However, HRD Ministry sources were not willing to comment on the meeting.

The meeting came against the backdrop of agitations in Delhi and in other parts of the country and petitions sent to the President.

The President had recently suggested increasing the number of seats in elite institutions like IITs and IIMs as one of the solutions to the reservation controversy.
