Medical services in government hospitals remained suspended as the strike by doctors protesting against the quota for OBCs in educational institutions entered the second day on Friday.
"Our voices are not heard by those in power corridors. We will intensify the ongoing stir. We know that patients are facing problems but there is no other way left to register our protest," Dr Subh Mohan Singh of Youth for Equality, spearheading the medicos protest, said.
Resident doctors, including those in senior positions, have given a call for the "total bandh" on May 30 in which traders, chemists, general public among others would participate.
Singh said that the non-medicos comprising students from colleges and universities, people from IT sector would join the medicos in their protest demonstration tomorrow in the city.
Meanwhile, medicos started blood donation camps at several places in the city and others parts of the region. "Blood donation assumes significance as there are no quotas or reservations in the blood of the humanity," Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) president Dr Jaspreet Singh said.
However, the critical areas, including the emergency services, ICUs and OTs, were maintained by consultants of respective faculties, officials said.
