Speaking to reporters after an all-party meeting called in the wake of serial blasts, Chavan said Patil is doing "extremely well" and overseeing the probe into the blasts.

The chief minister also said he was working in close cooperation with deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.

The chief minister's comments came against the backdrop of a controversy over his remarks earlier in the day that it was a "mistake" that the crucial home ministry was not with Congress but with the coalition partner.

Meanwhile, leader of the opposition in Assembly Eknath Khadse, who was present at the meeting, said he advocated enactment of stronger laws on the lines of POTA and TADA to deal with terror.

There is no need to politicise the issue of blasts and the opposition parties would support the government in its efforts, Khadse said.
