Rabbi Nachman Holtzberg, father of Rabbi Gavriel who was killed in the 26/11 terror attack, perhaps has one of the toughest jobs in hands. He, along with wife Frieda, is on a two-week trip to India to collect funds for rebuilding Nariman House, the place where two militants killed his son and daughter-in-law Rivka.
“First of all, the place needs to cleaned,” said Rabbi Holtzberg, referring to the wreckage of his son’s belongings and apparent bloodstains. “We have already collected some funds from the US and Europe and now we expect some donations from the Indian community so that we can rebuild the house. At least Rs 10-crore is required to build the house again, including the security aspect,” he added.
Security arrangement would be one of the priority issues while rebuilding the structure. “We have a couple of things in mind but it is too early to talk about it,” he said.
When asked if Mossad, the Israeli secret service, would plan the security, he said he couldn’t comment on the matter at the moment. Israeli security expert Avi Cohen is accompanying the couple, who visited the Nariman House on Friday.
The couple will contact the Jewish community and locals to raise donations during their stay in India. “We did have to do anything to reach out. Donors have come themselves. We just hope more people would help in the cause,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}Back home in Israel, Moshe, the son of the deceased Rabbi Gavriel, is fine. “He often remembers his parents and wants to come back home,” he added.
