Talking to mediapersons, Rai expressed his anguish over the statement of the state spokes man of the BJP that the Janadesh Yatra of Uma Bharti would weaken Hindutva.
Commenting on the statement, he said that Hindutva had already been weakened by Advani’s stance on Jinnah, who was responsible for partition along religious lines.
He said the motto of the yatra was only to create a sense of Hindutva among the masses. The BJP had completely forgotten the principles on the basis of which it was founded. In response to a query, he informed that Uma Bharti was considering formation of a political party and an announcement would be made in Chitrakoot in the last week of April. The common BJP workers did not like the decision of a handful of party leaders expelling her from the party. There were lakhs of BJP workers who were indirectly supporting the Janadesh Yatra, in spite of the party high command’s decision.Giving particulars of the proposed Janadesh Yatra , he informed that she would kick off her 90-day yatra from Vindhyachal in Mirzapur on February 6. After performing worship at the Vindhyachal temple, she would address a public meeting there and reach Varanasi on February 7 and address two public meetings in the evening. The next morning, she would address another public meeting at the district headquarters at 11 am. He added that the second phase of the yatra would begin on February 23 for western UP and end on February 27. The third phase of the yatra would begin on March 3 for eastern UP and end on March 7.
