Pouches, bottles and 20-litre jars filled with spurious drinking water were seized from Gyan Food Industries (Sikandra), K M P Beverages, Balajipuram and M R Food Beverages, selling water under the brand names of "Delta Pure", "Sheetal" and "Aqua Pure" respectively, a BIS spokesperson said here.
Action is being initiated against all the three firms and their owners under the BIS Act, 1986. The offence is punishable by imprisonment upto one year or a fine upto Rs 50,000 or both.
He said huge quantities of raw materials, including pouch films used for packing, were also seized from the factories.
The raids are part of a nationwide exercise against spurious use of ISI Mark on various products by the manufacturers, he added.
