The incident took place following the death of accounts assistant of traffic accounts department, Anurag Julka, who died allegedly due to laxity of the doctors, while undergoing treatment at the Railway hospital.

Reportedly, Julka, a resident of Rajrooppur, was suffering from high fever and vomiting and was admitted to the Railway Hospital, on last Monday. But as his condition failed to improve, his kins shifted him to a private nursing home on Friday, where he died.

Angry over Julka's death, the employees of the Accounts Department created ruckus at the Railway Hospital and accused the railway doctors of failing to diagnose Julka's disease. They claimed that Julka was suffering from dengue, but the doctors failed to provide him the required treatment, due to which he succumbed to the disease.

The employees went on rampage and destroyed furniture, computers, telephone and other items kept in the office of the CMS. Besides, they also damaged the furniture in the office of Senior Divisional Medical Officer Dr Vineet Agrawal and physically assaulted him.

The employees also ransacked the OPD and emergency ward.

Besides, members of North Central Railway Men's Union and Mazdoor Union also expressed serious concern over the death due to negligence in treatment at the railway hospital. They held demonstration and raised slogans against the doctors.

Later, the situation came under control when the personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) reached at the spot.

Taking serious note of the issue, the Chief Medical Director, NCR Dr Rama Basu and Chief Health Director Dr Meena ordered an inquiry into the matter and assured the members of the NCR Men's Union that reports of the inquiry will be available within a month.
