Poking a hole in the Goa police’s theory of accidental fall in the death of a Russian girl, the railway officials have said that such a fall is not possible.
“If someone falls off the train, he or she will be thrown away from the tracks and not on the same tracks where train is travelling,” Konkan Railway Corporation Limited’s (KRCL) Public Relations Manager Babag Ghatge told PTI.
A 19-year-old Russian girl, Elena Sukhanova’s mutilated corpse was found on a railway track at Revora village in North Goa, 15 km from here on May 8.
Police officials on Sunday had said that it was an accidental fall due to which the victim was crushed under the wheels of running train.
Ghatge, quoting the railway experts, said that someone travelling in the same train and getting under the wheels of the same train is not possible.
The Konkan Railway officer also stated that the Russian girl did not purchase any ticket on Konkan railway route in the night when she was found dead. “We have checked the records and found that she did not purchase any ticket to Mumbai,” Ghatge said.
Superintendent of Police Tony Fernandes told PTI that the police are still investigating whether she went by the train. “We have asked the KRCL to provide us information and we are waiting for the same,” Fernandes said.
