Raja told Bangladeshi journalists during the ongoing Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Karachi that the BCB should have treated Kamal with more respect than unceremoniously sacking the coach and putting the entire blame on him.

"Kamal should have been treated with respect by the BCB. If they wanted to sack him they should've done it in a respectable way instead of firing him the way they did," Raja, who was contemporary of Kamal and played a lot of cricket with him, was quoted as saying in the media today.

"Bangladesh did not perform well in the World Cup and one can understand the disappointment of the people, but it wasn't fair to only hold Kamal responsible for the debacle," he said.

It was on the request of the BCB that the PCB had recommended Kamal for the coaching their team, Raja added.

He said Kamal worked as a coach with regional academies and the PCB was considering giving him a major responsibility as a coach soon.

The PCB itself sacked South African Coach Richard Pybus after its team's poor showing in the World Cup and recalled Javed Miandad for the job.
