A day after the NDA government ordered a fresh probe into the Rajdhani Express disaster, Railway police on Tuesday served notices on Bihar police chief Ashish Ranjan Sinha and Director General of CRPF Jyoti Sinha, seeking to know whether they had any information, in advance, of the Naxalites' plan to blow up the train.
The DIG (Railway) Ajay Verma issued the notices to Ashish Ranjan Sinha and Jyoti Sinha, who were ADG (Patna zone) and ADG (railway), respectively, in 2002 when the accident took place in which over 100 passengers were killed at Dhawa bridge near Rafiganj in Bihar's Aurangabad district in 2002, highly-placed sources said.
Sources said the DIG (Railway) had expressed surprise over the manner in which the probe was conducted by the Aurangabad police at that time.
The DIG (Railway), through the notices, asked the DGP to explain whether he had received any information indicating the sinister design of the ultra-left outfit to blow up the train during his stint as ADG (Patna zone).
The DGP has also been asked to explain whether he had received any external pressure from any quarter to deflect the people's attention from "sabotage caused by the Naxalites", the sources said.
Similarly, Jyoti Sinha had been asked to inform whether he had got "any external pressure" from any quarter to prevent the officials from carrying out the probe into the disaster at that time.
