“My father is credited with introducing Indore to the Rajesh Khanna-look,” declared Dharmendra Purviya, who runs the decades-old Sangam Hair Saloon, which still does ‘Rajesh Khanna’ haircuts.

“I learned the art from him. Customers, some of whom who were not even born in that era, still ask for the haircut,” he added.

Purviya’s father, Sundarlal set up the saloon near Rajwada, Indore, and decided to perfect the look.
The craze caught on, and soon people were waiting there in four-hour long queues, to get the quintessential Rajesh Khanna do.
