"Why was former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi replaced? What prompted the BJP leadership to ignore senior party leaders and instal Munda in place of Marandi (in 2003)?" AICC spokesman Mohan Prakash asked at a press conference in Jamshedpur.

Claiming that the BJP did not have answers to these questions, he said investigations would reveal "links" of Singh and Munda with Koda.

Singh and other senior BJP leaders had played a key role in installing Munda as chief minister and the saffron party had now stopped raising the Ram Temple issue and appeared to be more concerned about Koda, the spokesperson alleged.

He pointed out that Koda, as Jharkhand Mines minister in the Munda-led NDA regime, had allotted 40 mines and only 15 during the tenure of the UPA.

Asked whether Congress would seek the support of Independents in case of a fractured mandate in the assembly elections, Prakash exuded confidence that the Congress-JVM combine would get a majority.
