Re-polling at 25 booths in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh electoral authorities today recommended to the Election Commission a re-polling at 25 booths where voting was disrupted by incidents of Naxal violence.

Chhattisgarh electoral authorities today recommended to the Election Commission a re-polling at 25 booths where voting was disrupted by incidents of Naxal violence.

Chief electoral officer of the state, Sunil Kujur sent the recommendation for the re-poll as Naxals had disrupted the polling activity at the 25 booths on April 16.

Some polling stations were captured while electronic voting machines were looted from others, electoral officers here said.

Re-polling would be held at Mutnapal, Bargum and Karekot, which come under Bastar parliamentary constituency, as these booths were captured by the Naxalites.

Polling would also be conducted at Korhobeda, Padeli, Khadpadi, Kormel, Kadenar and Becha from where EVMs were looted.

The other booths where polling was disrupted by the Naxals, include Hndwada, Bhatwal, Jagampal, Badegadam, Alnar, Kalepal, Neelawaya and Karka.

The remaining polling stations are from from Rajnandgaon and Korba Lok Sabha constituencies.
