District development commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary discussed the preparations for SVEEP plan with departmental heads of the district.

The DDC directed the officials do away with the practice of appointing only teachers on election-related duties. He said that the process for appointing booth-level officers from different departments should be started.

It was decided that officials would make coordinated efforts for creating awareness about voting rights, besides facilitating the enrollment of new voters.

Separate teams of officers have been constituted for rural and urban areas of the district and also for the areas where turnout was low in the previous elections.

It was decided to open about dozen election facilitation centres in remote areas, which will act as nodal points for registration of new voters, additions, deletions and updating, as well as issuance of duplicate EPIC cards.
