Rebels planning blasts in Myanmar: Junta

The military government has warned that 'terrorists' sent by ethnic rebels were planning attacks in major cities of the country.

Myanmar's military government warned that "terrorists" sent by anti-government groups and ethnic rebels were planning bombings in major cities of the Southeast Asian country, state-run media reported on Thursday.

The New Light of Myanmar reported that "bombers are planning to commit terrorist acts in harmony with above-ground politicians" -- an apparent reference to the Opposition party of Aung San Suu Kyi.

Last week, the government threatened to dissolve Suu Kyi's pro-democracy National League for Democracy party, or NLD, for alleged links with terrorist groups and other illegal organisations.
