Though Mamata Banerjee did not take any names, it was obvious that Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury was on her mind. The Murshidabad MP is supporting four Independents against Trinamool candidates.
“Those who are supporting Independent candidates against us are strengthening Marxists, which allow them to continue for another term,” the Trinamool chief said. She pointed out that the Congress-Trinamool alliance is based on mutual understanding and barring the CPI(M) nobody is opposing it. “Sabotage will not be encouraged. This is the stand of both parties.”
Chowdhury accused of Banerjee of throwing tantrums and said a leader of her stature should not be speaking like this.
Hammering home his point, the MP said: “The Trinamool in Murshidabad is sponsored by the CPI(M). It is a non-entity. She should go back to Kolkata and reflect on her decision. There is still time to withdraw Trinamool candidates from four constituencies— Jalangi, Sagardighi, Hariharpara and Bhagabangola. It will enhance her prestige.”

{{/usCountry}}Speaking at the rally, Banerjee said, “If someone says that I will not be allowed to enter Murshidabad, then I am not ready to accept it. I would come to this district thousand times.” She added, “Some are trying to say that why should Trinamool contest from Murshidabad? Is Murshidabad not in West Bengal? The alliance has been made across West Bengal.”
According to the Trinamool chief, the rebellion from dummy candidates will fizzle out, as voters know that change is around the corner and wasting a vote is dangerous.
In Hariharpara, which is to the east of Behrampore, Banerjee criticised Independent candidate Mir Alamgir without naming him. The Trinamool candidate in Hariharpara is Niyamat Sheikh, a Congress candidate in 2006.
