Recovered skeleton reveals real story, relief for wrongly charged

A man murdered another and buried him in his own home, for which a third man suffered in jail for seven years. Last week, the skeleton of the deceased tumbled out, exposing the crime. And on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh police arrested the landlord. The incident took place in the Shyampur-Jatt area of Simbhaoli in Ghaziabad.

In December 2004, the deceased Ishtiyaq Mohammed went missing from his home. He had last been seen with a man named Nooru (who goes by his first name). The victim's family filed a case of abduction against Nooru who was then arrested.

In 2009, a fast track court sentenced him to 10 years' imprisonmnent. Nooru is currently lodged in Ghaziabad's Dasna jail. Meanwhile, Harish Chand, the landlord, sold his house to Jai Karan. Last week, as labourers were digging the place to rebuild the house, a skeleton tumbled out. "With the skeleton, we also recovered some clothes and a wallet, which were identified by Ishtiyaq's family," SP AK Mishra said.

The police then launched a manhunt for the original owner of the house Harish Chand. After Chand was arrested, he confessed to the crime and revealed how Ishtiyaq had tried to molest his wife, after which he killed him and buried the body inside his house.
