Barring a stray incident of bomb explosion and assault on the polling agent of JD(U) in Munger, repoll at 232 polling stations across 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar on Monday passed off peacefully with an estimated 50 to 55 per cent voter turnout, official sources said.
Though state home secretary BK Haldar claimed peaceful repoll, a Munger report quoting police said three bombs were exploded some distance away from booth No 4 in Choti Kelabari locality under Kotwali police station. Nobody was injured and repolling continued without any hindrance as the trouble-makers fled the scene immediately.
In another incident in Munger parliamentary constituency, a polling agent of JD (U) was manhandled allegedly by RJD supporters at a booth at Hathia village in Jamui assembly segment.
No other incidents were reported from anywhere else.
Repolling was held at 92 booths in Munger, 39 in Banka, 20 in Khagaria, 18 in Saharsa, Madhepura (15), Begusarai (13), Purnea (08), Kishanganj (07), Bhagalpur (03), Balia (02), Araria (02) and Katihar (01) where polling was held on May 5.
Repoll also held at 10 booths in Sitamarhi and two in Motihari Constituencies which went to the polls on April 26.
