According to sources, MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal is likely to be transferred to some other department.

Expecting a change of guard in the civic body, the Mission Gurgaon Development (MGD) has written a letter to chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, suggesting Kumar’s name as Rajpal’s successor.

Praising Kumar for his tough stand against encroachment of Huda land, the resident body said Kumar, “an excellent officer”, has taken the difficult task of developing and managing this rapidly-growing cosmopolitan city. “His zeal, enthusiasm, foresight and firm handling of challenging tasks has been exemplary and ushered in the long-awaited changes that Gurgaon citizens were desperately waiting for. Praveen Kumar is competent, dedicated, effective, and sensitive to the needs of the people and the city,” said MGD president Satbir Singh.
