Joining in an initiative launched by the city police, a group of residents have volunteered to help the policemen in managing the bustling traffic during peak hours in the city.
The team lead by Capt. Rajesh Sharma, Director - Administration, Sapient India, part of the Cyber City Welfare Society, was on the road for three hours on Monday, handling traffic and guiding motorists at Iffco Chowk and other busy intersections.
“We all feel the need for better traffic management most of the times, but how many of us obey traffic rules ourselves? There have been many instances of educated people flouting traffic rules and some even try and use their influence when they are pulled over by the traffic police. Being part of the Cyber City Welfare Committee, we decided to spend some time on the roads ourselves, so that we could educate people on ‘how to behave on roads’,” said Captain Sharma.
Sapient also distributed around 100 souvenirs to traffic policemen, marshals and volunteers managing traffic at Iffco Chowk and Rajeev Chowk on NH 8. “Traffic marshals work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, facing extreme heat, dust and pollution. This is a very tough, thankless job, and we appreciate their service. I thank Sapient for their support and would urge other corporates to also participate in improving city traffic,” said Subinder Khurana, President, CyberCity Welfare Society.

Police is there to assist the public, and we want to use force only as a last resort. We invite more members of the public to get involved in increasing traffic consciousness.
