The residents of unauthorised colonies have threatened to lay siege to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) building on Thursday to protest against the state government's "inaction" over legalising 48 colonies. The House is slated to meet on Thursday.
According to the residents, the government has been moving at a snail's pace on authorising 48 colonies, though the proposal has been sent in February this year.
A group of residents of these localities, along with their councillors, met MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal on Wednesday and sought his intervention in the matter.
The House, on July 21, had passed a resolution unanimously, calling for the regularisation of the colonies.
"We have already sent the list to the Haryana government through Gurgaon divisional commissioner after completing all the formalities," said the MCG commissioner.
The residents told the commissioner that they were forced to drink untreated water as treated water was not being supplied to these localities.
"We will take to streets if the Haryana government does not give us concrete assurances by September 1,” said a local councillor.
“There is anger among people and we will continue our protest till we get all amenities in place. We have been clamouring for our rights for years but the government is ignoring our demands," the councillor added.

“At least drinking water should be provided in these areas," he added.
More than eight lakh people live in unauthorised colonies.
"Since the matter is pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, we cannot comment on it," said Ram Niwas, financial commissioner-cum-principal secretary to Urban Local Bodies, Haryana government.
