"The resignation has come too little, too late. To resign after resisting and delaying the issue for days and weeks is not not graceful nor voluntary. There is no remorse, no contrition, no acceptance and no apology. The BJP leadership and Narendra Modi are fully supporting and justifying the actions till now."

"I am not surprised. It is the true "sanskar (culture) and also the true 'chal (conduct), charitra (character) and chehra' (face) of BJP," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters in New Delhi.

He noted that the CBI case against Shah had been initiated in January and if BJP had felt aggrieved, it should have approached the Supreme Court at that time against the "so-called misuse" of the agency instead of indulging in "verbal acrobatics" now.

Singhvi said that charge sheeted leaders not resigning was a continuity on the part of BJP. "It is a smaller home minister of a smaller state of Gujarat."

He said that BJP raising "one billion" was not going to help them "divert the nation's mind" from the "antics" of its Gujarat Home Minister and what was going on day and night in Gujarat.

Singhvi said that BJP was resorting to all these tactics as Amit Shah was important" to Narendra Modi and Modi was important to BJP.

He said that the government has no problem in debating any issue but if the BJP chose to disrupt the functioning of Parliament, people will see through what were the real reasons.
