Review meet fails to take off

THE PERFORMANCE review meet to be chaired by State Education Minister Narottam Mishra and Education Commissioner LS Bagel through Setcom could not take place in many districts of the division. However, the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan meet chaired by Education Principal Secretary I S Dani was held at Divisional Commissioner’s office today.

According to DIET sources, no clear signal could be received for video-conferencing meet held in Bhopal, as there was some problem in the receptor set. The same problem was faced in many other districts of the division including Dhar, Barwani, Khargone and some other places.

The principals and teachers of schools, which registered poor results and low attendance, were to face disciplinary action and the teachers of schools which produced cent percent result were to be felicitated. Important issues such as feedback on new subjects started in class VI and VII, ways of increasing attendance and decision on contractual appointments (sanvida niyukti) were to be discussed in the two sessions—from 12 pm to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The reports presented at the meeting revealed that 3019 primary school building, 304 middle school building and 2007 extra classrooms were constructed under the campaign. The expenditure incurred for the construction amounted to Rs 27.83 crore.

Dani directed the revenue officials to monitor distribution of uniforms and textbooks. He added that all the vacant posts under the campaign must be filled by September end.

Dani asked the Divisional Commissioner to keep a strict vigil on expenses and complete the construction of girls’ hostels within the stipulated time frame.

State Education Centre director M K Singh, District Collector Vivek Aggarwal, Khandwa Collector N K Shrivastav, Burhanpur Collector V S Baghel, Deputy Commissioner (Development) R K Khare and Deputy Commissioner (tribal welfare) S K Maravi participated in the meeting.
