The opposition RJD will organise state-wide sit-ins on June 5 to "highlight rise in crimes" under the new Nitish Kumar dispensation in Bihar and winding up of the Amir Das Commission, which was probing the political links of Ranvir Sena, a private militia of upper caste land owners.

RJD workers would stage sit-ins at all district headquarters to "highlight" the alleged failure of the NDA government, which came to power six months ago on the promise of rooting out crime in three months, state party president Abdul Bari Siddiqui said.

Stating that RJD had taken a serious note of the scrapping of the Amir Das Commission of Inquiry, Siddiqui alleged that it was done to save Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and some other senior leaders of JD(U)-BJP combine from being exposed for their close links with Ranvir Sena.

Claiming that the NDA government had nothing to show in terms of development or crime control, the state RJD chief said the Nitish government is a government of "denting, painting and distemper. It believes more in superficiality than real work".

The beautification work is going on without floating of tenders and contractors close to NDA leaders are making money, he alleged.
