MOBILE PHONE service provider Hutch, on Monday, announced launch of a service under which their subscribers can book domestic airline tickets and access flight information through sms. On the other hand, another cell phone operator, Airtel launched 131 service enabling its customers to access the Railway inquiry system.

Hutch has entered into an alliance with Flightraja.com, a Banglore-based Online Travel Portal, to provide this exclusive service to customers. Under this service, a subscriber will be required to send an SMS to 6858 to get instructions. Once he does it, he will receive the comparative information on almost real time basis and the Fligh Raja customer service executive calls back to complete the booking.
After launching emergency number services like 100, 101 and 102, Airtel on Monday introduced Railway enquiry service 131. Now, Airtel’s prepaid and postpaid customers can directly dial 131 without dialing STD code from their mobile and make an enquiry about their respective trains. The calls to this numbers will cost Rs 3 per minute and would be available round the clock.
