?Rly land to be used for farming?

RAILWAY MINISTER Lalu Prasad Yadav said here on Sunday that Railways would utilise its land for agriculture. The Railway Minister, who launched Yatri Mitra Sewa at Chhapra, said land belonging to the railways would be given on lease for this purpose.

The Railway Minister, who launched Yatri Mitra Sewa at Chhapra, said land belonging to the railways would be given on lease for this purpose.

He further said the railways would purchase the crops and pack it. After this, the crops would be carried to other parts of the country, Yadav said.
Yadav said the plan once implemented would ensure maximum payment to the farmers for their produce and proper employment.

He said the Chhapra railway station would be developed on the pattern of international railway station, and 20 per cent of work was completed, he said. Yadav hinted that ‘Garib Rath’ would go to Amritsar from Siwan via Delhi and the stoppage of this train would be increased. He also flagged off Thawe-Hajipur Passenger train from Thawe railway station. He inaugurated Tenua Dumaria halt.

Yadav claimed that in 2005-06, the Indian Railways earned Rs 13,500 crore profit. “In the current financial year, we will earn Rs 20,000 crore,” he claimed.
He said the railways had achieved this success with the help of the employees.

adav said the Harvard University and the World Bank also invited him, and the Rating Committee of Union Ministers gave him the first place on the basis of his performance.

NER general manager Sukhbir Singh, who welcomed the Railway Minister, said Tenua Dumaria halt station was constructed in four months.
