The Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) personnel have repaired and restored the road from Choglumsar to Leh town.

The repair and restoration of the road will help to expedite the supply of relief material to affected victims, an official release stated on Sunday evening.

However, the road beyond Choglumsar is still damaged and efforts are on to repair and restore it.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir government has re-started SMS services in Leh to help in relief and rescue operations in the region devastated by cloudburst and flash floods that have left 145 people dead.

The SMS had been banned in the state a few months following security reasons.
