She said an FIR had already been registered against Jaswanti Devi for offences under various sections of Indian Penal Code, Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act 1956, Bonded Labour Act and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act.

It was in the month of March this year only that Jaswanti was honoured by the state government with Indira Gandhi Nari Shakti Purskar carrying a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a citation.

It was in her shelter home that the heinous crime of sexual abuse of the minor girls had come to light when the three girls, who had run away from the shelter on May 7, 2012, and were found by the Delhi police where they also later narrated their ordeal to National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), members of which raided the shelter home and rescued 94 children.

Meanwhile, it is after the shocking crimes that the government had now asked all the non-government shelter homes to get registered with the woman and child development department.
