Deepak, 17, committed suicide by consuming poison on November 4 at the house of his maternal uncle in Madina village. A resident of Chiri village in Haryana's Sonepat district, Deepak was staying with his maternal uncle to complete his schooling.

On Tuesday, a group of villagers led by Deepak’s maternal uncle Jai Kishan reached the RKP Senior Secondary School at Madina village, alleging that the school authorities had beaten up Deepak, forcing him to take the extreme step.

Jai Kishan alleged that Deepak was beaten up by the school staff on November 3 over a petty issue during a tour of Nainital from October 28 to November 1. School principal Ravinder Dangi, however, rejected the allegations.

“On November 3, Deepak was caught with a knife in the school and was reprimanded by us. We told him that the matter would be brought to the notice of his parents,” he said.
