The rose garden at Sector 15-I, which was left abandoned, has finally got a new lease of life. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has planted over 1,000 rose saplings in the garden, one of the oldest in the city.
The action has come after several complaints were made by residents to the authority officials. Huda planted 1,100 rose saplings in the last week of November as it is the best time for rose plantation.
The rose garden was not only in a bad condition, but also facing the problem of sewage water flowing into the park.
The residents had stopped going to the park due to the unhygienic conditions.
“Nobody was listening to us. We were very disappointed. Now we see a ray of hope. I wish authorities take interest and resolve this problem so that people can get some green space to walk and spend leisure time,” Sharad Goel, a resident, said.
Huda executive engineer VK Nirala said, “We know that the garden needs maintenance. We are taking required steps to ensure the same. We have also prepared an estimate to repair walking tracks and fencing. The maintenance work should start soon.”
