Addressing the programme, Tiwari informed about association of Rotary Club with WHO. WHO’s Dr P K Bhagwat, who was also present at the programme, said although no cases of polio had been detected in Madhya Pradesh, 12 patients had been identified in Uttar Pradesh and seven children suffering from the disease had been found in Bihar. He asked people to cooperate in the vaccination camp and to bring children up to five years of age for vaccination.

Chief guest Dr K K Vijayvergiya lauded the programme and also said that Rotary Club and other such organisations should take initiative to uproot polio. He also said a transit team had been formed that would vaccinate children at airport, railway station and bus station.

Indian Medical Association, Indian Paediatrics Academy and private nursing homes would extend cooperation to the programme. District chairman Amaan Qureshi said that Rotary had spent $ 615 million in polio prevention programme, of which $ 6.2 million had been spent in India. Padma Jadhwani conducted the programme. Dr Narayan Khare proposed the vote of thanks.

Presidents of Rotary Clubs of Mhow and Indore also participated in the programme.
