RR Patil hails role of home guards

State Home Minister R.R. Patil lauded the role of the home guards in maintaining law and order during the inauguration of the divisional sport tournament of home guards of the Nashik division on Sunday.

Patil said within a year, 10,000 more home guards will be appointed. He said the government has recruited 44,000 policemen in four years and the process of recruiting 14,300 policemen was in progress.

Hundreds of home guards from Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Ahmednagar are participating in the tournaments.

District commandant of home guards B.N. Raut, Special IG (Nashik range) S.P. Gupta, DSP Nikhil Gupta, Police Commissioner V.D. Mishra, Collector P. Velrasu were present on the occasion.
