The battle of crorepati cars is all set to enter an interesting phase with a slew of products being lined up by global luxury car manufacturer, Bentley, a UK firm that is now part of the Volkswagen group. DaimlerChrysler also plans to enter the Indian market later this year with its Rs 3 crore offering Maybach from the Mercedes stable.

After unveiling its Rs 3 crore offering, the Arnage R, a few months ago, Bentley is now gearing up to launch the Rs 1.67 crore Continental GT by April this year.

"We have already got 15 confirmed bookings with customers depositing their money. Our aim is to sell 40 Continental GTs annually in India," Bentley regional director (Middle East, Africa & India) Ian Gorsuch said.

He said the company was awaiting a homologation certification from the Indian authorities. "The Continental GT will definitely be on the Indian roads by summer this year," he remarked. The firm has been encouraged by the customer response to the Arnage R.

Apart from these luxury vehicles, Bentley is also planning to soon launch in India the Arnage RL, a limousine from its stable. The vehicle will carry a price tag of Rs 2.5 crore, taking into account the present customs duty structure.
