Robbers snatched Rs 39 lakh from the employees of a liquor firm on Monday.
Armed robbers driving a stolen Ford Fiesta car waylaid a van of a liquor trading company on the busy Faridabad Road and snatched Rs 39 lakh from the firm’s employees who were on their way to a bank to deposit the amount, in DLF City on Monday morning.
The robbers also fired one gunshot at one of the employees and stabbed another one in their successful robbery attempt on Faridabad Road.
There were four robbers in the car.
The injured are reported to be out of danger. The bank was less than a kilometre away from the crime scene.
SN Virmani, the director of the liquor company, said that the company van with three employees and a driver took off from the Sector 17A office at about 10.25 am for depositing Rs 39 lakh that was collected from various liquor vends on Saturday and Sunday.
Somebody from the company itself had probably leaked this information to the robbers who planned the act.
Gaurav Singh, the driver who was in the van, said that as the van crossed Hotel Bristol roundabout and reached Silver Oaks apartments on Faridabad Road at 10.40 am, a Ford Fiesta car hit the van twice in the side.
“Finally, the Fiesta car that was probably chasing us for long, hit our van and forced us to stop. One of the robbers first attacked the front windshield with a hockey stick, another one took out a dagger and injured the employee Jai Narayan and the third one took out a pistol and fired a gunshot at one of our employees, Jaswant, and snatched the bagful of cash from him. Then they sped away,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}According to the police officials investigating the case, the Ford Fiesta car was bearing a fake registration number — HR 26 AD 9282 — as the original owner of this number worked in an office in Bhikaji Cama Place in New Delhi and his car was a Toyota Corolla.
The Ford car used in the robbery was probably stolen.
The police officials said that none of the three company employees were carrying firearms to defend themselves.
