Rs 9.37 cr spent on separatists' security

The Jammu and Kashmir government has spent Rs 9.37 crore on providing security cover to Hurriyat and other separatist leadership, which include fuel expenses and salaries of security guards from 2001 to 2012.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has spent Rs 9.37 crore on providing security cover to Hurriyat and other separatist leadership, which include fuel expenses and salaries of security guards from 2001 to 2012.

In a written reply to a question raised by independent member of the legislative Assembly (MLA) from Langate Assembly segment of Kupwara district, Engineer Abdul Rashid, in which he asked to provide year wise detail of amount incurred on providing the security cover to the Hurriyat and other separatist leaders indicating the expenditure made on the vehicles escorting them and protecting their residential houses, government informed that Rs 9.37 crore has been spent.

From 2001 to 2012, the J& K government spent Rs 4.96 crore on providing salaries to PSOs of the Hurriyat and Separatist leaders and Rs 3.79 crore on salaries of residential guards, whereas Rs 6.52 lakh had been spent on fuel expenditure to vehicles escorting separatist leadership.
