STUDENTS OF Rajarshi School of Management Technology (RSMT) found their career in jeopardy when they saw a big zero in their MBA third semester marksheets against Strategic Management.

However, when they checked up with the officials and inquired into the matter, they came to know that they had got passing marks in the subject.
Two such cases are of Anurag Srivastva (HT had taken up his case) and Arvind Kumar Srivastava who was both awarded zero marks in Strategic Management paper of MBA third semester.
Arvind claimed that he had secured 41 marks in the subject but was awarded zero on the mark-sheet. “After getting my marksheet, I was stunned to detect the glaring mistake and I immediately contacted the concerned officials in UP Techenical University. I came to know that I had got 41 marks in the said paper and not zero as mentioned”, he claimed.
However, RSMT, affiliated to the UP Techenical University, seems to have taken the issue casually. “It is the second case of official negligence at the RSMT and career of several students might have been spoiled in this manner”, said Arvind, who said he would file an application under Right to Information Act to know why and how all this happened and why no efforts were made to rectify the wrong. His friend Anurag has also filed an application under RTI in this regard. Although both victims submitted applications to the RSMT management, seeking explanation about their marksheets, urging the authorities to rectify the mistake, but according to them, no satisfactory response was received from the management even after the lapse of about five precious months.
However, the administrative in-charge of RSMT, Dr SK Dubey, when contacted said that correction in the marksheet was beyond the power of the institute as the mistake was committed by the UP Technical University. “We are equally concerned and want immediate disposal of the matter”, he said.
However, he wanted to know as to what was the proof that the students had secured higher marks as the marksheet showed zero. He then passed the buck to one Sunil Singh of the same institute saying he was the right person to be contacted on the issue. Singh, however, failed to give any satisfactory reply.
Meanwhile, in another case—one Viddya Devi, whose husband died while discharging his duties in July last year, is running from pillar to post to get the ex-gratia compensation from the Varanasi Nagar Nigam for the last one year. She also filed an application under Right to Information Act on Thursday.
