IN A shocking revelation, two arrested constables of the special operation group (SOG) Sushil Pachauri and Alok Singh have told the police that two sub-inspectors (S-Is) deployed in the Chief Minister’s residence and a suspended STF constable were in possession of the gold (worth Rs 36 lakh ) looted from the Allahabad-based traders in the city recently.
The duo surrendered before the senior cops on Sunday. The two S-Is had in fact hatched the plan along with a police informer and three other outsiders. Pachauri, Singh and others were included in the plan later, they said.
Senior police officials, however, are yet to officially declare the arrest of the SOG constables and say they were still hunting for the absconding policemen.
The startling revelation by the detained SOG policemen baffled the top cops. Inspector General (IG), Lucknow Zone, AK Gupta himself interrogated Pachauri and Singh at length at the Crime branch office today and issued directives to SP Crime and SP (East) to form separate teams to nab the absconding policemen involved in the loot.
Pachauri and Alok were earlier quizzed by other officials at the Banthara police station after their surrendered before the SSP.
Dismissing earlier theory of involvement of five persons in the loot, the duo revealed that eight people, including them, had executed the robbery. They said S-Is Brijraj Yadav, who was earlier posted as in-charge of the SOG in Gorakhpur police, and Santosh Singh had planned the loot after a police informer of Chowk had tipped-off about the gold.

Pachauri and Alok revealed that the two S-Is and suspended STF constable Tiwari fled with the booty.
