South Korean Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook plans an emergency meeting of senior government officials later on Monday to discuss the economic impact of North Korea's nuclear test, the finance ministry said.

An official at the ministry's public relations department said Finance Minister Kwon O-kyu, Bank of Korea Governor Lee Seong-taek and other economy-related ministers would attend the meeting, due to start at 3 pm.
North Korea said earlier on Monday it had carried out an underground nuclear test.
