S Korean film gets last-minute Cannes invite

South Korean director Hong Sangsoo has won a last-minute invite to join the race for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival with his film "A Tale of the Cinema", organisers said Tuesday.

Some 21 films will now compete for the coveted top prize at the May 11-22 festival in the southern French resort, the organisers said in a statement.

Two additional films will also join the "Un Certain Regard" section: Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachtani by Japan's Aoyama Shinji and Marock by French director Laila Marrakchi.
