The hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala will open for the Onam festival Poojas on August 31.

The temple will conduct Onam feasts at the temple premises from September 1 to 4 for all Ayyappa devotees.

On the first Onam day, the feast would be hosted by Melsanthi (chief priest) Vishnu Namppodiri, followed by the feast on Thiruvonam day on September 2 by an Ayyappa devotee from Seethathode in Pathanamthitta district.
The third Onam (Sept 3) is also sponsored by a devotee from Bangalore while Devaswom officials and employees would host the fourth day's feast, a release from the Travancore Devaswom Board, administering the shrine, in Thiruvananthapuram said. Special poojas will be held on all the four days.
