The hearing in the 2006 murder of Sabharwal, who was a professor at Ujjain's Madhav College, was shifted in Nagpur from Madhya Pradesh by the Supreme Court on a plea by his son Hemant.

Additional District and Session Judge B A sheikh, who is hearing the case in Nagpur, was told that by Saturday the court will be informed on confirmation from Memon on his appointment as Public Prosecutor. Memon is a leading criminal lawyer based in Mumbai.

Sabharwal was fatally assaulted allegedly by a group of student-activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad, a wing of the BJP in August 2006 over postponement of union polls.

Six accused, whom the court in Nagpur had allowed to appear for their post-graduation examination in Ujjain, were present in the court.
