Sacred Heart Palli Parishad celebrates Christmas

THE PALLI Parishad, the governing body of the Sacred Heart Church (Mhow) on Sunday organised Christmas programme on the church premises.

Mhow MLA Antar Singh Darbar was the chief guest while Mhow City Congress president Kailash Dutt Pandey and vice president of Indore district panchayat Prahlad Singh Thakur were the special guests.

Parish priest Fr Biju Mathew presided over. Fr Mathew welcomed the guests and threw light on the life of Jesus Christ and celebrations of Christmas and New Year. The programme started with carols sung by the boys and girls of the Catholic community of Mhow.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Darbar said that everyone must learn from the service given by the Christian community to mankind. He further said that the community has set an example in the tribal villages of Khurda-Khurdi of Mhow tehsil
where they opened a school and uplifted the education level of the tribal people of the region thus uplifting their standard without worrying for the various charges leveled against them.

Pandey also addressed the gathering and said that he had learnt from the community about the social service while being in politics when he became the corporator of the ward no 6 that is dominated by the catholic community members.

A cake was also cut by Darbar. With Sunday’s function, the Jesus Week celebrations concluded. Rakesh Anthony conducted the programme while Fr Raju proposed the vote of thanks.
