Saffron party to use cultural thread to bond with J-K

With an eye on the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intends to make use of cultural tools, like street plays and musical concerts, to sensitise the local people of their indigenous art and to weave a strong bond with them.

As part of the party’s pan India movement the BJP’s art and culture cell will use these methods to bond with people and help redress their problems by acting as a nodal agency with the various ministries.

“We want to integrate the people of J-K with the mainstream populace. We had a meeting of our art and culture cell three days ago which was well attended. Our endeavour is to use art and culture against secessionist forces which have alienated people from the mainstream,” Mithilesh Kumar Tripathi, national convenor of the BJP’s art and culture cell told HT.

Tripathi said that the tools would be used to sensitise the local population about their indigenous art and culture. The cell also intends to create a socio-economic platform to boost the local Pashmina shawls industry.

The BJP is seeking to accomplish the task of winning atleast 44 of the seats in the state assembly.
