Saffron stars shine at wedding of Gurumurthy’s daughter

The crème de la crème of the BJP descended upon Chennai over the weekend to attend the wedding of RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy’s daughter.

Top BJP leadership descended upon Chennai over the weekend to participate in the marriage ceremony of the daughter of RSS ideologue, renowned chartered accountant and business adviser to top notch industrial families of the country, S Gurumurthy here in Chennai.

Also spotted at the two days of marriage festivities held over Saturday and Sunday were few Congress leaders, from Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country. Among those from the BJP who marked their attendance at the wedding related functions, on Saturday and Sunday, were BJP veteran LK Advani, union home minister Rajnath Singh who came to Chennai on Saturday.

On Sunday, a big BJP ministerial contingent from Delhi arrived in special planes and regular domestic flights. Among those who came for the Muhurtam, the exact time of wedding vows administered in accordance with Hindu Brahmin marriage customs, were BJP president Amit Shah, union ministers Arun Jaitley, Piyuth Goyal, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Venkaiah Naidu.

Gurumurthy’s daughter, Manaswini alias Malavika tied the nuptial knot with Natarajan alias Anirudh, son of N Subramaniam, who is a Brahmin businessman. The wedding function was simple and the food spread was south Indian vegetarian fare.

Amit Shah could meet Ramadoss briefly at the ceremony as he was scheduled to return to Delhi on Sunday afternoon and was not present for the evening reception. From the Congress party, former union ministers, Jayanti Natarajan and breakaway Congress leader GK Vasan were spotted at the reception.

From the film world, the biggest of them all, Rajinikanth attended the Sunday morning muhurtam and from the Bollywood, actress Juhi Chawla was present along with her father in law, who is a personal friend of Gurumurthy.

Spotted amongst the guests was the newly appointed Chairman of the Prasar Bharati, veteran journalist A Suryaprakash.
