Hosts Bhopal disappointed the spectators. The splendid and strong Delhi team made Bhopal look feeble through fast and controlled hockey. However, Delhi started slowly. The first half ended with the scoreboard reading 1-0 in favour of Delhi. Ashok Kumar scored the goal through penalty corner.

Bhopal got some close opportunities but failed to capitalise on them. The second half saw intense and fast game from the visitors.

Amit of Delhi created more problems for the home team and scored another goal. Once again, Bhopal demonstrated poor game in the second half and failed to equalise on a number of occasions.

Ashok Kumar, scorer of the first half, scored his second and team’s third goal in the closing moments of the match. When the hosts were almost of the verge of being blanked 3-0, Sahil Siddiqui scored in the last minute of the match through a penalty corner. However, it was too late for Bhopal to bounce back. Delhi won the match.
