THE STATE Cabinet today gave its nod to set up a state-of-the-art women’s sports college at Saifai, the native of village of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in Etawah, and decided to introduce fashion technology courses in the industrial training institutes in 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
A decision in this regard was taken at the State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at his Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan annexe office here today.
Talking to media persons, chief secretary Naveen Chandra Bajpai said the proposed college would be first such college exclusively for women. A sum of Rs 16.63 crore would be spent on the proposed sports college, he said adding the State Cabinet had given clearance to specifications laid down to set up the college.
This would be the third sports college to be run by the UP Sports College Society that had already set up sports colleges at Lucknow and Gorakhpur, he said. The State Cabinet also decided to set up a Provincial Staff and Research Centre with an investment of Rs 4 crore at ITI Aliganj in Lucknow, he said.
Bajpai said the State Cabinet also gave its nod to introduce fashion technology courses at the industrial training institutes (ITIs) situated at Moradabad, Jhansi, Banda, Kanpur, Faizabad, Gonda, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Basti and Lucknow. The State Cabinet gave its nod to create 17 new posts of instructors in the scale of Rs 5000-Rs 8000 in the ITIs.

{{/usCountry}}The State Cabinet also decided to amend rule-5 of the UP Bal Vikas Evam Pushtahar Rules 1992 to increase the age limit of ‘anganwadi workers’ from 45 years to 50 years. This would enable the ‘anganwadi workers’ to get regularised and promoted on 300 posts from within the 50 per cent quota of promotions.
The Cabinet also decided to cut down the rebate given on rate of interest levied on loan and advance given to State Government employees. The Cabinet decided to lower the rebate to 2.5 per cent from the existing 3.5 percent. This has been done on the pattern of rebate given to the employees of the Central Government.
The State Cabinet also approved a compounding scheme for traders selling mustard oil and oil cake. The State Cabinet however decided to lay down certain conditions to implement the scheme. New scheme would be implemented only if a minimum of 624 applications were received, he said this would ensure a minimum revenue of Rs 7.50 crore. The State Government expected an increase of Rs 4 crore under the scheme.
