The lawyer of Indian national Sarabjeet Singh, who has been convicted in Pakistan for being a spy and involvement in bomb attacks, has complained that he was not being allowed to meet his client.
Defence lawyer Rana Abdul Hameed told BBC radio that the authorities have not allowed him to meet Sarabjeet for seven months.
Hameed said that he was allowed to meet his client after the Lahore High Court ordered a meeting in October last year only once. "The Secretary Interior has not permitted me to meet Sarabjeet since then."
"The Interior Department has been saying that he is a high security prisoner and that the application is under consideration," he said.
Sarabjeet Singh was sentenced to death in 1991 by a Pakistani lower court after being convicted for four bomb attacks in 1990 that left 14 people dead and 89 injured.
His subsequent appeals in higher courts were turned down and Pakistan's Supreme Court upheld his death sentence in August 2005. He has now appealed to the Pakistani president for clemency.
